Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies, Austin Chapter was formed in October, 1991. In June, 2002, the name was changed to Central Texas Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition.

The purpose of this coalition is to promote breastfeeding. Yearly activities include announcing the Breastfeeding Mother of the Year at an event close to Mother’s Day, awarding the Hero of Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Award, participating in the Breastfeeding Challenge, introducing legislation that benefits breastfeeding mothers, and networking with other breastfeeding coalitions in the state.
