Mothers’ Day Event and Dining to Donate Fundraiser- May 7, 2008

Join us on May 7 to raise money to help fund our legislative efforts by taking your family and friends for lunch or dinner to any area Applebees. If you take the Dining to Donate Flyer, 15% of the proceeds of your meal will be donated to HMHB. To make a copy of the flyer, click here.

Central Texas HMHB will be having their May 7 meeting at the Applebees in La Frontera Shopping Center in Round Rock. We will be honoring Jennika Cook as our Mother of the Year. Jennika is receiving this award because she was asked to leave the Disney Store at the Round Rock Outlet Mall for nursing her baby. She and other moms organized a nurse-in at the Mall. A formal apology was issued. Please join us in our celebration of courageous mothers!

Central Texas Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition now has an on-line store at Cafe Press. We are selling a variety of t-shirts for adults, kids, and infants, infant bodysuit, infant bib, cup, mouse pad, and tote bag with the logo “Keep Austin Breastfeeding.” Two dollars from every sale goes to our coalition. To order one or more of these items, click here.

NEW: The Texas Department of State Health Services has a new Community Action Kit. This kit is a coalition building and resource notebook designed to help start a new or strengthen an existing breastfeeding coalition. It includes community assessment tips and tools, ideas on how to address the needs of your community, as well as resources to help influence change. To view the kit, click here.
